Goodbye Seattle

Well, today's the day. All that's left is to pack my car and we're on the road. The movers came yesterday, so the house is pretty much empty. I signed everything for my home sale last night, and it's set to close today. Hailey and I camped out on the floor last night - and as you can see from the picture, she much preferred my sleeping bag to her bed. I can't wait to see how quickly she steals it from me when we're both in our tent!

I haven't tried putting everything in the car yet, so we'll see how it all fits (it'll fit!) But I'm all stocked up on food - lots of smoked salmon, salmon jerkey, peanut butter, hardboiled eggs, nuts, seeds, (a little bit of chocolate), beef jerkey, some arugula, apples, and carrots. Oh and let's not forget my lard, kombucha, and kefir. I still need to stop by the store to pick up some jugs of water, but I think that'll last me.

Leaving is a bit odd, I have to say. Seattle has been my home for the last 12 years. But leaving seems right, too. Consider the symmetry - I moved up here on June 25, 1997 and now I'm leaving on June 25. I'm moving to Boston and (if my google skills are accurate) my home buyers are from Boston. There are a lot of good friends and great experiences I'll definitely miss, but it is time for some new adventures. So here we go - Next stop... ???

The kombucha has been great. I've been keeping two in my ice chest. The jars still builds up pressure, so I assume that means they're alive, though I won't actually feed them until I get to Boston.
